DISCLAIMER: Yeah, this is long. If you can't handle a lot of words, don't read it. But don't make some smart ass comment about it being to long just because you think you're funny.
=====
So as you enter xmas town, you get a quest update noting how beautiful the land is. Fresh, undisturbed snow. Elves frolicking outside their homes, children pelting each other with snowballs and giggling with glee. You realize you haven't really ever just...relaxed. This year, people are going to do your bidding. You're tired of being the mule, listening to orders and simply following commands.
Your first objective: Hot Chocolate. Where do you start? Might as well try the inn.
When you enter and talk to the inn keeper, he mentions that the cook is out for lunch. He understands you want to just relax, but while you wait he asks if you could relay a message for him. It's just walking right? You can either tell him no by leaving the building (though, for the love of all things good make it so we actually have to LEAVE before we fail the quest. Candy brains is epic suck because it insta failed people.) or talk to him again to receive the message.
Simple enough. You just need to go to the tailor and let him know something he had sent to the inn was a bit faulty or something. When you arrive at the tailor, he informs you that it couldn't be his fault if the materials he was provided with weren't of the best quality. He admits that the "satisfaction guarantee" promises a full refund, only he doesn't have the funds for it. The tailor asks for a small favor. Either pay back the Inn keeper yourself, or go find some more materials for him so he can replace the product.
At this point you can either go hunt (whatever monster seems reasonable) for so many materials, or go pay the inn keeper some random amount. (Preferably a high amount just to keep it from being "easy")
If you go find materials, you'll have to stop back at the tailor first and he mentions how much you've helped him. Not only can he replace the product and keep a costumer happy, but it didn't cost him anything. When you get that done (or if you just choose to pay him) go back to the inn keeper.
He thanks you for running the errand while you waited, but he's sorry to say that the cook's shift has ended, you're going to have to wait till later for your hot cocoa.
He mentions that since you'll be waiting anyway that he would greatly appreciate it if you could run another errand for him. Talk to him again to find out that some other visitor of the inn had left some random item in the room when they left. You'll have to be the loving person you are and go return the item. (Or you could be a bad seed and keep it.) When you go find the person the item belonged to, they thank you immensly and repay you with some random amount of gold. Whether you keep the item or return it is up to you, either way return to the inn keeper to advance the quest. If you keep the item, you just simply lie about returning it.
But the inn keeper is sad to inform you that you are still a tad too early for the cook. You can rest here for a bit though if you want, afterall you have been helping the inn keeper out. Talk to him again to rest up.
After a brief nap, which from all of this walking was quite refreshing, you go back and check on the cook. Guess what? She seems to have a bad cough so she wont be in today.
The inn keeper expresses a sincere apology and wishes he knew his way around the kitchen to help you out. But... Since you're not doing anything, he did hear that there was a new guy in town who could use a tour or something so he can know his way around. (This is another one of those go help or just leave and come back and lie things.) If you help, you'll know the general area of where this guy lives so go talk to him. This new guy says he has a shoddy memory so walking him around town wont work. He wont be able to remember where anything is. However, if you could get him a map of sorts pointing out houses, shops, and land marks, he'd be in your debt.
If you help him out, he can give you some random amount of gold, probably not a lot due to you just walking. Either way, go to the inn keeper when your done. He'll point out how nice you've been to these people and commend you on your good deeds.
But you could care less, you still want your cocoa. He says again that you'll have to wait till tomorrow due to the cook being ill. He offers a free room once more for being such a kind soul.
Sleep in the bed to get a quest update saying there is some kind of clatter on the roof.
Leave the inn to find the outside world still dark (even though I guess we really don't have a night time in terra...). You look up to the top of the roof to find a sleigh
that could only belong to one person...
Your quest will tell you to run back in to see if you can get a glimpse of the jolly fellow.
When you go back in you become speechless. Imps!
Fight your way (or run, it wont matter) to the back of the inn where you recall the xmas tree being to find not Santa, but...something else.
Some kind of xmas ghoul has stolen Santa's job and is spreading his Imps to reak havoc on the unsuspecting people of the world.
He wont fight you though, he says he has gifts to give to the helpless people. He disappears and is replaced by a few imps. As you go to leave the room, you hear a scream
for help coming from upstairs. The innkeeper has boarded himself into his room to hide from the imps but they are trying to bash down the door. Kill a few and assure the innkeeper he's safe. The innkeeper insists that there are more downstairs and he wont open the door until your sure you've killed them all.
You can either go down and kill some more or just go down to pretend you killed some. When you come back up you reassure that the innkeeper is safe. He lets you in and tells you that he heard some of the imps talking about working for some minion in a far off land. They described the land as being a frozen wasteland with hideous monsters walking about on two legs.
Talk to him again to have him say he thinks there is a man in town that knows a lot about the land and could maybe tell you where this place is.
Even though you can probably guess where it is without help, go find the guy in town. Though, you'll be sure to notice the land being over run with imps. You'd sure be glad if you helped the one guy with the map earlier at this point in time. Find the guy, talk to him, he says it sounds like that place is coldwood. He mentions that there might be a strange requirement to get there, something deathly even. He reccomends you talk to his college room mate, he says that guy dabbled in the dark arts a tad. Only thing is, he doesn't live in town. He mentions that his friend was always a bit too secretive and never really told him where he lived, though he did mention wanting to move to some place advanced. Someplace where he could train nonstop...but some place he could also have a garden.
Go find the room mate to learn (or be reminded) that you need a death's elixer to go to coldwood. He says he does have one, though it will cost you a ton. That, or he could give it to you if you if you do something for him. if you talk to him again you'll need to have however much he asked for to buy the de, but if you decide to help he will say to go over to his book shelf. He mentions that he needs to read something real quick and then you he'll let you know what he wanted you to do.
But omg, he trickeded you. What he was reading was really an incantation he uses to capture the souls of clueless people and turn those into the elixirs. You've been teleported to the spirit realm and will have to defend yourself from the restless ghosts. You'll have to work your way through a ghostly maze to find the exit to the spirit world.
When you reach the exit, you find yourself back at the man's house. He seems speechless at first and apologizes. He mumbles about something not working right and gives you a de. (You wonder if part of you is in that bottle...)
Your quest update tells you to male your way to coldwood.
When you get there your quest will tell you that you really have no idea where to look so you might as well make your way to the town.
Fight your way to the town and ask about. Surely someone will know something about where this ghoul calls home. (I dunno who will be the one to tell you, but ask around until someone mentions that they aren't certain, but they think far to the south there were some ominous clouds the other day.)
Travel south and figure out where these clouds might have been. Luckily, you eventually run into these dark clouds, which seem to be more like a thick fog...
Explore your way to the center to find an abandoned looking mansion. Go inside to find it deserted. Investigate the room to find some hidden switch that will open a hidden door and continue. This will take you to an underground lair with imps, slimes, and whatever else fits. You've more or less run into a Frankenstein-esque lab. When you make your way to the back you'll run into a pen with reindeer and some markings which look as if they could have come from a sleigh taking off. You also notice some books on a table so you go to read them. It explains in a quest update that the xmas ghoul altered normal reindeer to imitate Santa's so he could spread his terror across the land or something. With his mighty imps.
Because they're so scary.
In any case, you figure this is a good time to go back to xmas town and find Santa. Who else could have the power to combat this kind of foe? Surely no one else has a set of flying deer handy...
To truck it back to xmas town and find where Santa lives. Keep in mind to watch out for those mighty imps though.
Uppn entering Santa's abode you notice it's dark. Too dark...
You try to make your way to the Big Man's room but you stop as you hear something in the darkness. You prepare for a fight and try to find the source of the noise...
You eventually stumble around long enough until an elf begs for mercy. It doesn't want you to hurt it, it just wants to go home. (Though you always assumed elves lived with Santa for some reason...) Find where the elf is hiding and talk to him again to find out that Santa isn't even here. He's been missing for a while now. The elf mentions that something had scared Santa and that Santa was making arrangements to go to someplace far away to look for help from someone. Talk to the elf again to learn that Santa was going in search of a land where mages and warriors called home, seeking aid from both.
(This could either be going to the warrior and mage paths for badonna, or going to the mage/warrior faction leaders. Personally, I say go to badonna to make it challenging and have a better reward, but if you want to be "fair" to the people who can't go then the factions would work...)
Whether it be the faction leaders or badonna, go and see if you can find any clues about Santa. You'll decide to go to the mages first. Whether it be the faction leader or someone in the town, they will say that they haven't heard anything from Santa. Go to the warriors to find out that Santa had been asking for a large amount of warriors to go to Reet. Why Reet you think?
Regardless, you need to hurry to Reet and see if you can figure out what's going on, or see if you Can find Santa.
When you get there, everything seems to be just fine...
Investigate a little more to find that the inside of the mall is occupied by warriors. They wont talk to you though...
You figure you better check the palce out and see if anything unusual is happening...
When you eventually make your way to the roof to finally run into the bearded legend. Santa seems distraught though.
Talk to him to hear the story of what's happening. You'll get ported to one of those flash back kinda things and learn about Santa's past a tad.
How he family and friends who all loved to be around him but eventually grew jealous of him. Everyone in the world loved the man, yet no one knows about the guys closest friends or most beloved family members. (Excepting his wife of course.) One friend in particular grew jealous enough to hate Santa.
Obviously, you can assume this is the xmas ghoul. He's become so bent on hate for Santa he wants to give him a bad name and ruin xmas.
But what does this have to do with Reet? Especially the mall?
Santa points out that the mall is the center of the community more or less. Everyone on the planet knows how to get to the mall and they visit it frequently (even if it always seems empty...) and more importantly, the mall is the place people go to for holiday shopping. The ghoul knows this and will eventually begin an attack on it with his minions. After Santa gets done saying this, something terrible happens. Screams from below alert the guards and the attack has begun. Santa asks you to stay up top with him, he knows this is going to be the only place the ghoul can land. He asks you to go to the other side of the roof just to stay ready and wait for him to land. As you get to the other side of the map you hear santa scream. You go back to find that Santa is missing and the exits (both the elevator and stairs) are blocked by debris. From above the ghoul laughs maniacally as he gloats about finally kidnapping the man he's loathed for so long. You're in luck though. As you go to the southern area of the roof you'll find Santa's reindeer.
Walk on to the sleigh to be warped to a new screen. You'll be in the air parallel to the ghouls flying sleigh and when you talk to him he says something about being impressed someone like you knows how to control the sleigh. (Maybe everytime you talk to him when you're in the air, the screen could change to make it as close to "flying" as [possible?) Talk to him again and he'll say that there's nothing you can do. If you try to fight him, he can simply just toss Santa over the side and that will be the end.
You need to think... Surely there's something you can do?
Go up to the front where the reindeer are and talk to one of them. (Yeah, it's dumb but oh well.) You figure these things have been around for how many hundreds of years, surely they know what people are saying by now... You make up a plan for them...
You go back to the ghoul and talk to him one more time. He asks what you're going to do. Fly around the world, chasing him forever or are you going to be logical and leave him be with Santa so he can carry on his evil plan.
You decide to be extremely illogical. You run to the edge and jump!
As you jump towards the enemy sleigh, Santa is tossed overboard and your reindeer immediately alter their course to go save him.
Now it's just you and the ghoul.
He makes some smart ass comment about you being an idiot. Sure, you might be clever, but there's no way you can best him in a fight. Only... You do. You kill the xmas ghoul and realize something terrible. The riendeer were just genetically altered, they weren't the real thing. It seems they somehow had a connection to the being that made them. Now that he's dead, so are they. You brace yourself for a possibly life threatening crash as you plumet towards the earth.
Everything is now black but you hear voices in the distance...
"Hey, I found the sleigh!"
"It's going to be ok..."
"(and whatever other kinds of things you could imagine people saying at this point in time.)
After you go through that, you wake up in a bed at the inn where this all started. As you exit the room, you run in to some random person who says that there is a big celebration going on in the middle of town.
You go to the middle of town and talk to Santa to find out what rewards you get for all of this.
Based on whether you lied or actually helped out people in this determines what you get. Maybe for each person you could have helped, you either get a prize or something crappy? I dunno if we have coal, but it could be something lame like a chunk of iron...
As happy as you are about these amazing gifts for xmas, you're still annoyed. You saved Christmas, you helped out tons of people, you even boarded an enemy air craft (during flight) to kill some pyscho... All just because you wanted some flippin hot chocolate.
You march back to the inn after the celebration is over and demand that the cook bring you a nice hot cup right this instant. Only for the cook to reply that they don't even serve that here... They have ale and pie. And that's it.
wow this is a funny ass quest hahaha
