There should be town attacks in this game. When monsters invade a certain town and the town goes into defense mode where everyone in the town will try to hold them off and people in other towns will try to travel there and surprise the monsters from the back. If the monsters manage to invade the center of the town, for example, Escher, if the monsters manage to invade the center of Escher (The statue), then Escher would be filled with several tough monsters at all times until someone can manage to walk and touch the statue in the middle of the town.

Thiru, I only played MU for a week or two before I got bored to the max. Besides, I didn't even know they had town attacks. And as for the questions Michaelz asked me... I'm not sure how to answer them seeing as how they are structured that way. So I think you're asking what if OUR defense is good? Or is it the monster's? Well I'll answer both. If our defense is too good... then the monsters will move onto another town. If the MONSTERS defense is too good after they have taken over the town... then we needa hire a stronger character Laughing out loud Do you mean ravage? I think so, so the monsters should ravage the town... oh say... every 6 hours? To answer the last question, if the people ward off the monsters successfully, they will already get the exp and drops of the monster and I think that's enough. Anything more will make the game too easy and characters too strong too fast.

that would be cool but what if they invade an mpty town? and touching the statue is a little easy you would just have to run thru but it would be interesting ... but the maps make it kinda hard to do

Ok... let's see... what if they invade an empty town? Well obviously then no one's using it. So until someone comes to use the town... it'll be monster property. Ok so if touching the statue is a little easy... how about having them kill an NPC in the middle of the town? I want to have him running around, but that would be too much lag. If only the bandwith wasn't so... limited. I'm not complaining! Another problem is... some people would just drop cabinets to impede the monsters path... that should be outlawed in some way... so have an admin watching and then no one would drop barriers around the NPC so the monsters can't touch him. Well here's an idea! Since monsters can't move across screens... we'll have to time them. First, it'll broadcast, "Escher is under attack!" or something, then the people can have 10 minutes to go to Escher... and a few outlying screens of Escher will have monsters, such as the weapon shop screen and bank screen... etc... After those 10 minutes, the monsters will appear in the middle, where the NPC is. They'll respawn there after death just like on any screen in the wilderness. You have to guard the NPC for about 20 minutes... so it doesn't get too tedious. If you succeed, well... you just saved Escher! If you fail, then you already know what happens.

You know.. I don't think there would be this much lag if people weren't so talkative all the time. As many people mentioned, the reason for some of the lag is because of all the broadcasting. Plus the talking on each map, that adds to a lot of the lag. Well that's beside the point, I think this wouldn't make it very laggy, just some hard work by scripting should minimize some lag. But I believe that would be too tedious if it's every 6 hours.. so I think it should be twice every week or so. Both times should be on Saturday, twelve hours apart to accomodate other time zones. Or multiple times on Saturday, only on Saturday. That shouldn't be a problem I believe.

That is a pretty cool idea but several issues will arise:

First: Would it not be annoying if you were just a bystander in a town and were not interested being involved in defending the town, then what would happen? Does this imply that you have to run out of a town every time?

Second: Why not consider the opposite, where the players are the ones that will invade a town? For example, (I don't know how much effort something like this takes), but why not have a monster stronghold that you can try to take over? I guess for the period of time that you hold the town, you are awarded with some sort of award like experience?

Answer to first question: Well, if you're stuck in the middle of the town, why not participate in the town attack? I mean, you get exp and gold, and if you run inside buildings you'll be safe. Because I believe it would be too useless for monsters to invade buildings and it would be too tedious for the admins. So I guess, if you wanted to evade having to fight monsters, you don't run outta town, just into one of the buildings.

Answer to second question: You know, that's a good point. But exp, no. I think maybe you could be awarded with ample mining and lumberjacking space or something, but nothing too cheap. Say, their stronghold could be a mining area and another part of it could be a lumberjacking area and another part of it could be a farming area. Laughing out loud

I think instead of touching an object, the town should be retaken once all of the monsters in it are killed.
