i haven't played this game for a long time but now i returned.
there is now this thing called crossroads...
my spawn is set on a guild inside escher's housing area. i don't know this crossroads business very well but when i enter the portals i get back into that same guild hall
is there a way out of the crossroads and into escher or any other town?

What you need is for an admin to reset your spawn in escher. That is the only way for you to free yourself. Also show the admin the guild hall so that they make sure "indoor" is not checked. (indoor=respawn for these who do not know)
