From what I red in the other topic, there is an issue with transport reducing play time... which is apparently bad. In my experience, having to walk for a million years is rather boring. Actually, incredibly boring. And if one thing ever makes me want to go and read a book, it's sitting at a screen holding an arrow key for upwards of 10 minutes. (Waiting for trees to respawn is almost as annoying)
Now, quite a few people are behind the teleport idea. (very cool and all)
One slight concern, this is the year 2010 and we are not even close to teleportation. Terra seems to be somewhere in the middle ages, except magic exists. And as wonderful as it would be to teleport for a single watermelon... it's not really viable.
So perhaps a smart inventor has been looking at the alloys and strong metals that are utilised in weaponary. (Which is extra amazing considering the lack of industrial mines, smelters or metal works) So this inventor has thought, let's burn some fossilised plants, make a bit of steam to power an enginge and push something along some of those metal tracks in the mines.
Yes people, I am talking about trains. (yes, this has been suggested before)
So, people can visit more towns and find more things to do. (splendid idea, chappy)
Because as terrible as it would be to reduce the amount of time people spend... walking. Maybe it would be wise to replace the walking with actually doing stuff?
Then towns which people never use... might be used?
Obviously, the distance between some places is a large part of their difficulty, also passwords.
So, I suggest that this inventor approaches the main towns and sparks the beginnings of a terraworld-wide railway system.
Building a railway across unknown expanses of shark and squid infested water does not seem like the wisest of ideas, so Larcenia will unfortunately miss out on such an improvement. Badona is simply too dangerous, and the sun would damage the paint work of the train. Coldwood is across an unspecified distance of ocean as well.
Kelton and Guild City don't receive enough traffic to make the railway economically viable.
So this system would connect Reet, Escher and Antwerp.
Payment has been an area of debate. Now, we could pay with crystals or gold or coal... but why not stick to the logical answer: tickets.
Escher -> Reet = 500g
Escher -> Antwerp = 1,000g
Reet -> Antwerp or Escher = 500g
Antwerp -> Escher = 1,000g
Antwerp -> Reet = 500g
Making it too expensive would result in nobody using it.
Each town would have a railway station(add decorative track between each town, or make it an underground system) use the password system AND the quest system to access each town(the same as reet/escher bridge).
Ok, so that sorted. Next, benefits to Tom.
So some people travel a lot, why not have a frequent-chugger card? From the donation store. $15 and you have unlimited trips between towns!

Condensed:
Train system between the three main towns. tickets from 500g to 1000g. Unlimited ticket available in donation store.

I like this idea. and support it. =D
